About the Artist

Guy Connell is an artist and designer who lives in Edinburgh, Scotland. Graduating with a first class honours degree from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee, he works as a creative director and painter.

In his most recent Botanical Series, his paintings are largely inspired by the vibrant and diverse ecosystem found in nature. He is interested in capturing an otherwise ordinary scene, one which might be casually passed by without a second thought and shining a spotlight on the detail, pattern, colours and diversity within it. His aim is to create art which softens spaces, adds texture, and creates a vital connection with nature, effectively bringing a piece of the outdoors in. 

   

His preferred mediums include oil paints, which he uses to create intricate depictions of natural elements that invite the viewer to look closer, and landscapes that evoke a memory or a sense of place. Guy’s palette is rich with heightened colour and vibrancy reflecting and enhancing the natural beauty he seeks to capture while creating pieces that are contemporary and visually stunning.
